25 Eye Catching Facts About Me That May be Hard to Believe!
1.) I was terrified of fireworks when I was a little kid.
I was absolutely convinced that when the firework exploded that the sparks would fall down and set us on fire. Several times my grandma let me sit in the car with her a few blocks away so we could be "safe".
2.) I currently sleep with a giant stuffed unicorn.
It has basically turned into my body pillow. Weirdest thing about this is that it was actually a valentine's day gift from my ex and even though I'm totally over him, it's just too comfy to lay on. Maybe I should find a replacement one to buy?
3.) I've never broken a bone even though I'm super clumsy.
I'm incredibly surprised by this one. I'm so accident prone and uncoordinated that my mother jokes that she should've made my middle name "Grace" so she could laugh at the irony.
4.) I love all things Disney!
I have an ever growing love of all the Disney movie and the characters. To name all of my favorites would take to long but I really love Alice in Wonderland because she is so adventurous and believes in what others see as impossible. It's people that think outside the box like this character that can change the world.
5.) I don't eat seafood because it makes me ill.
I inherited this from my mother and it didn't hit till I was a teenager. Snow crab used to be my favorite treat so I'm actually pretty bummed about this one.
6.) I've been 5 miles away from the border but I've never been in Canada.
I was up in this tiny little town called Curlew, WA to fight a forest fire with the Washington National Guard. We were so close to the border that the Canadian government actually sent their wild land firefighters over to help us contain the fire.
7.) I bottle fed a litter of great dane puppies.
I got the phone call about a mother dog that was unable to care for her babies anymore so I went and picked them up. They were about 2 and a half weeks old when I became their surrogate mommy. It took a few tries to master the recipe for the milk they needed and many long nights bottle feeding five tiny mouths. I ended up finding all of them good homes and I will forever treasure the memories from those little guys.
8.) I shaved my head while I was in Kuwait.
It was over 120 degrees Fahrenheit every single day. Shaving my head was the best decision I made over there. It kept me cool, I didn't have to struggle to constantly get sand out of my hair from the wind and I never had a bad hair day no matter how little time I had to get ready.
9.) I have 3 tattoos and I'm getting another soon.
I have two on my bikini line and one below my right clavicle. My next one is going to be on my right thigh and I really excited to get started on that one.
10.) I once drank a blended it up thanksgiving dinner for a competition.
This is exactly what it sounds like. Imagine every kind of food that makes a proper Thanksgiving dinner and then put it in a blender. I faced off against three other people and won. Surprisingly it wasn't as disgusting as you would think it ought to be.
11.) I play guitar but I'm not very good at it.
I have a really difficult time with chords with my tiny hands so I avoid them. I read music and tablature. I own several favorite songbooks but my favorite one is full of Disney songs. My favorite one to play is "Kiss the Girl" from The Little Mermaid.
12.) My favorite football team is the Seattle Seahawks.
I know we are all accused of being "band wagon" fans but before you jump to that conclusion. I was born in raised in Washington state. The Seahawks have always been my team even when they sucked. I still remember being heart broken when we went to the super bowl for the very first time back when I was in middle school and lost to the Steelers. I love my team and when football season is here again I'll be wearing my jersey with pride!
13.) One of my favorite things to do on my free time is to go thrift shopping.
I really love a great deal! I actually have a hard time not buying something if it's an amazing sale even if I'll never use it. I discovered that thrift stores are a great place to hunt for discarded name brand clothes with plenty of life in them and I get to buy them for a fraction of the price and not stress about blowing my budget for the month.
14.) My favorite color is silver.
I know this one is a little odd but I really love how shiny and beautiful silver is. I would say that it's followed by red and then pink.
15.) I'm weirdly fascinated by big, colorful bruises.
I really think they are awesome. I used to take pictures whenever me or one of my friends would get a really sweet looking bruise.
16.) I only have one dimple.
I guess I'm not very symmetrical but I think its kind of cute actually. When I was little I used to call it my "face dent". I didn't know they were called dimples.
17.) My favorite movie genre is comedy because I love to laugh.
I'm talking movies that have you holding your sides, gasping for breath, and tears rolling down your face because you are laughing so hard. You hit that point where you begin to believe that it is actually possible to die from laughing to hard.. Movies that meet that level of funny are my favorite genre.
18.) I'm mildly addicted to Dr. Pepper.
It is by far my favorite soda but I am now only mildly addicted because before I joined the military I used to drink 2 or more liters of Dr. Pepper every day. Other than maybe a sip from the water fountain, I didn't really drink water back then. I've made a lot of changes to be healthier since then but I still enjoy my favorite soda just in much smaller amounts.
19.) I'm a dog person.
I love all animals but I do place dogs over cats and that's simply because I love how dogs rejoice in every little bit of attention they receive from you but cats are much more independent and usually they decide when they would like to receive attention of any kind.
20.) I had my 13th birthday on Friday the 13th.
I know everyone likes to thing Friday being on the thirteenth day of the month as a bad omen but I think it's really cool when my birthday is on Friday and I have always had a really great birthday when it's happened. Last year, my birthday was on Friday the 13th while I was in Iraq and all of my friends threw me a great birthday party in the desert.
21.) I love to dance around my place to party music.
I always have some sort of noise going on when I'm home. I find complete silence kind of eerie to be honest. I love dancing too but I'm not sure what I do when I'm home alone qualifies as dancing. I think it's more like awkward and down right silly movements that happen to be placed to movement. I often catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror and almost fall over laughing at myself.
22.) My favorite kind of ice cream is chocolate chip cookie dough.
I love frozen treats of all kinds but I've always had a special place for cookie dough. When I was a teenager, I used to make it just to eat it. So, naturally, chocolate chip cookie dough became my favorite kind of ice cream. I also really enjoy chocolate ice cream.
23.) I love to travel and explore new places.
I've been very blessed with lots of opportunities to travel. I really hope that this will continue in my future. There is just something about exploring an unknown location and finding all the hidden treasures there. I'm often just looking for new hiking trails or things to do in my area. It's fun to get out of your comfort zone, try new things and make memories that will last forever.
24.) I once got to hold and bottle feed a baby black leopard.
This was a very special experience in my life. When my 16th birthday approached, my mom asked me what I wanted to do and I'm sure was expecting that I would ask for some sort of sweet sixteen party but instead I wanted a road trip. We at an animal refuge along the way and I'm really sorry because I can't remember the name of the place anymore but if I can track if down then I will update you guys. They had two nine week old black leopard cubs and I got the opportunity to bottle feed and play with one. It was such incredible moment to look into it's eyes and know what huge and graceful bug cat that he would be one day very soon.
25.) I really enjoy the outdoors when the weather is nice.
I had to clarify the when it's nice thing because I hate the rain but otherwise I'm game for any outdoors activity. In fact, I just participated in a team fishing tournament two weeks ago. We lost but it was a really fun opportunity and I did get to contribute a fish that I caught to our team's final weight.
